A mosaic is a decorative art form created by assembling small pieces of coloured stone, glass, or ceramic (called tesserae) onto a surface, forming patterns or images.

These designs can be challenging to paint but the trompe l'oeil effects can be very striking. They can be effective as small, stand-alone pieces or as part of a larger theme
