The Saffron Gatherers
This piece is a reproduction of part of the The Saffron Gatherers fresco from Akrotiri, Thera. The image depicts a young woman harvesting saffron from crocus flowers. This vibrant Minoan artwork reflects the importance of nature, ritual, and possibly medicinal practices in Bronze Age Aegean society.
Painted with acrylics onto shaped, carved and textured medium-density fibreboard (MDF), the surface has been primed beforehand with multiple coats on both sides to ensure stability and longevity.
To protect the work, it has been finished with at least two coats of high-quality flat matt acrylic varnish, complete with a UV protection filter.
The dimensions are 80 cm by 123 cm, with a thickness of 12 mm.
